GMD was founded in 1947, by Gerhard Müller - one of the important ropeway pioneers. The product main line was based on the Monocable system. Skilifts, Handle tows, Chairlifts and Cabinlifts. GMD Gerhard Müller Maschinenbau AG and GMD Müller Lifts have built many installations all over the world. GMD was taken over in 1985 by the Management under the name of ROWEMA. which means Ropeway Engineering and Manufacture. ROWEMA has taken over the complete Know-how and Goodwill and is the sole legal successor.

Mueller Lifts Canada started in 1968 and has partnered with GMD and Rowema on many installations around the world. Mueller Lifts Services Inc. is the only official OEM supplier for Mueller/Rowema brand lifts and parts in North America.

Mueller Lifts Services Inc. is the third generation of owners based in the heart of Canada's best ski region, The Okanagan Valley. Within two hours drive you find the resorts of Silver Star, Big White, Apex, Sun Peaks, Revelstoke and Mt. Baldy.
